American composer, arranger and international, performing artist whose work focuses on using creative collaboration with jazz and cross genre arrangers, composer and world-class players.

More than just a vocal interpreter of songs, her creative improvisations and original compositions place Jenny Davis squarely in the category of nothing other than serious jazz musician. Jenny earned her Masters of Fine Arts in Music Composition from Vermont College of Fine Arts, and a Bachelor of Music from the prestigious Cornish College of the Arts., where she was awarded scholarships from both institutions. An experienced straight-ahead jazz vocalist, she actively performs throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. In 2018 her tour included Philadelphia, New York City and Lyon, France. A thoughtful composer her work reflects the experience of her deep musicianship and the sensitivity and vulnerability of a passionate artist.  A human rights activist, and advocate, is reflected in her most recent compositional score, a song cycle, written for saxophone quartet, piano jazz ensemble and string quartet, and was inspired by this advocacy.  In August 2018, she performed her original score: Rearranged with the Sirius String Quartet featuring Grammy nominated, violinist, Gregor Huebner.

Past performances include Composer’s Concert at the University of Arts, Philadelphia. Main Stage performance and television interview at the 2011, Victoria (British Columbia, Canada) International Jazz Festival. In 2016 she recorded with the Brazilian virtuoso, guitarist, Diego Figueiredo. She has performed at most major venues in Seattle, including Jazz Alley, Jazz Vespers, Poncho theater, University of Washington.  Jenny has studied and performed with such world class jazz musicians, including: Kurt Elling, Jovino Santos Neto, Diego Figueiredo, Bud Shank, Anita Wardell, Andy Jaffe, Sheila Jordan, Hadley Caliman, Randy Halberstadt, Russ Johnson, Chuck Easton, Gregor Huebner, Diane Moser, Dmitri Matheny, Qunicy Davis, Ken Thomson, Carla Kihlstedt and other distinguished International artists.

Whether improvising over Charlie Parker on a concert stage, or delivering the composer’s heart of a haunting ballad in an intimate coffee house, Jenny’s commitment to the art form is never more evident than in her third, CD release of INSIDE YOU.  Internationally renowned composer, Rodgers Grant, made a compelling contribution to INSIDE YOU with his sultry ballad, Morning Glory, “You have now given me more reason to gloat! I love it!” (Rodgers Grant). While Davis displayed her own commitment to jazz with her deeply personal composition and title track. A passionate steward of jazz, Jenny passes on the tradition as a jazz educator, and vocal coach.
